Realistic Anthropomorphic Whimsy

The Artist
Originally from Lincolnshire, Amanda lives with her wife and two step children in the Suffolk countryside, where local beauty and inspiration are in endless abundance. Amanda is a self-taught artist specialising in pastels, animals and bad jokes. Her steadfast commitment to high-end quality and originality, doesn’t prevent Amanda from having endless fun with her creations!
The Art
While her subject matter is often undeniably playful, Amanda’s execution is anything but frivolous. Working with professional-grade pigment pastels on archival PastelMat substrate, she approaches technical precision, composition, and craftsmanship with earnest.
The Process
While many artists use reference photos, Amanda’s process of visualization is guided by a rare cognitive trait called hyperphantasia. This grants her the ability to see imagery with the sharp, complex clarity of a photograph, in her mind’s eye. A sensory phenomenon independent of artistic talent or technique. Possessing and successfully executing both, is a rare and fortunate convergence. Acting as an internal blueprint, this mental canvas can be reshaped at will, limited only by Amanda’s imagination.
The Easter Eggs
Some of these idiosyncratic animals, manifest and develop organically, as Amanda works. So, keep an eye out for her signature visual puns, cultural nods and hidden elements cleverly woven into her works.
